If I was asked to describe my life in one word, I would have to say rushed. I’m a full time student, I work two part time jobs, I have a girlfriend that wants time dedicated just to her, and somewhere in between I have to find the time to do my school work. Time management is a skill that I have been forced to learn. I was born in Riverdale, Georgia and moved to eleven new places before I was eighteen. I didn’t put a lot of emphasis on school work in high school, my graduating GPA was in the 2.4 range, which landed me in Gordon College. My grades in high school are an inspiration to me. I strive in college to make up for what I slacked on in high school. So far at Gordon College I’ve maintained a 4.0 GPA, which is something that I’m extremely proud of. It’s also something that haunts me. No matter where I’m at or what I’m doing, my mind always wonders to looming exam dates, unfinished math work, or a paper that I have to write. I put so much pressure on myself to keep my grades up that it’s hard to concentrate on or fully enjoy anything else in life. Winter and summer breaks are like a little slice of heaven. I can work as much as needed, but still have the time to enjoy life. If there’s one thing I’ve learned living the life I have, it’s that you have to try to find some kind of joy every day because another day isn’t guaranteed to anyone. Sports are something that have always been a big part of my life. I have played baseball, football, and basketball competitively. I was the starting third baseman for my high school varsity baseball team my sophomore through senior year and pitched the winning game of the state championships my junior year. Since graduating high school, I have found that traveling is something that I love to do. I went out of the country for the first time this previous spring break when my girlfriend and I visited the Bahamas. I hope to graduate college and get a job that allows for me to travel. I have many places that I want to see, and it would be great if I could do it at a young age so I can enjoy to the fullest extent what each destination has to offer. |
